Rinoue - I am good with HDS-9 mounting in console. When you mounted your unit did you note the depth to the rear of the console. I think the concern will be mounting a VHF radio in the console next to the HDS-9 most VHF radios need about 6" of depth.

I agree, screen real-estate gets used up very quickly. The console on the 210 Montauk is not very large it only measures 19 W x 9 H (all in inches), and, because Boston Whaler mounted the USB and Aux ports in the console, the real usable space is 19 W x 7 H. Up and down the I-95 corridor, I generally travel at the speed limit or slightly over. The top speed limit is 70MPH. I have Kumho Radial 857 tires on my trailer they are a Q-speed rated (up to 99MPH) - load range D trailer tire.

Here is the Turbo Swing on my 170 Montauk. The Turbo Swing is very strong it installs by thru bolting through the stern. Easily tows two larger tubes with two of the roller clips.

As Seatracks notes - I have also used the fuel from my boat for other uses. During SS Sandy I had a 295 Conquest with ~300 gallons of fuel, myself and a few neighbors lost power for 10 days. Thank you for the response, I pull two 225lb slalom skiers from deep water starts. My 170 Montauk with the V-4 ETEC 115H.O. can barely do this running an extremely light load and underpropped turning a Power Tech Prop SCD-4 13x17 Propeller. The skiers really have to pull themselves out of the water....

Yes - I think it is a bit of a unique situation. The dealer has an OptiMax 200 on the showroom floor. From what I have seen out-right purchasing price difference between the FOURSTROKE 150 and OptiMax 200 is about $2,000 more for the OptiMax 200 in the market.

The Tohatsu TLDI 90 is a fine choice - 337lbs, 1267cc, 5 year warranty. The technology is similar to a Mercury Optimax using an air assisted direct fuel injection system. As stated over and over on this forum - one of the deciding criteria should be your relationship with your local dealer.

Correct - I have the brackets screwed into just the deck (no wood), but I did bed the screws and brackets with 3M4200. After seven years of heavy and rough use, mostly water sports so a lot of stress with a full tank in quick turns - jumping on plane - wake jumping, ect, I have not had any problems....

Phil - I assumed since it's a 2004 and the only 17' foot boats BW made were the 170 Montauk and 170 Sport - that the reference was to the 170 Montauk. The 2004 Dauntless was a 16' footer ;).

Make sure to clean the keel area well with acetone and let the keel guard get warm by laying it out in the sun; it needs to be pliable to work with. Best is to install it on a nice and warm sunny day.
