Re: E-TEC Top-mount Remote Control Too Large
This is similar to my 170 [helm console] and [E-TEC remote control] throttle base. There was not enough room between curves and edges without this adjustment. KING StarBoard of 1/4-inch thickness was used to lift the throttle and fair the mounting. It looks good.

Re: 2005 170 Montauk Bow Rail Welds Breaking
The weakness is caused by no support across the entire front of the boat, unless you got the split front one. Some [person] in a dark room designed it and some [person] higher-paid approved and built it. The rail might keep you in if you fell against it, and that is the reason mine is still in place...

Re: 2005 170 Montauk Bow Rail Welds Breaking
The 2005 170 bow rail I have is poorly designed. Looks nice but almost totally unsupported. I am surprised any survive. The span across the bow is much too long. The rail vibrates and flexes from waves--not just people leaning on it. There was an option on some [Boston Whaler boat railings to have] ...

Replacements are higher quality igloo. 72 quart.
The whaler cushion is much better than the igloo cushion, so if you can use the existing one, you will save and be happier.

Re: Non-skid mold for deck repair
Not to confuse, but how are you going to use the mold? Do you make a section and fit it into place? Or, do you plan to push the mold into wet gel coat?
I have never gotten past this, and cannot see the texture working except in a replacement section to be fiberglassed into place.

Give yourself a spare day so you do not have to push. Two days may be just right.
An extra will allow for problems and reduce pressure on you to get there on time.
You are pushing the specs. Maybe not exceeding, but pushing?
Good Luck.

Re: Trailering with a manual transmission
Practice on hills. Get into the routine and sequence of this operation. Practice. Have your emergency brake adjusted so that "it works". It will work better if you set it and then push down on the real brake pedal last. This takes the stretch out of the cable. Makes the emergency brake hol...

We do make mistakes out there.
But most boat operators drive them like cars, and believe that is ok.
The white line and signs telling them what to do and where to go are missing.
Now we are to the thinking part and many just do not want to do that.

Zip the bottom out, (dremel, grinder, etc.) remove the rotten core, glass in new core, plywood or glass core, and replace bottom piece.
Or take it to your favorite glass shop and get them to so it.
Are the posts solid?
Less wood more fishin.
