Just watched Ship Shape TV. I know the host shills for his sponsors but he really trashed Evinrude in his latest episode. Said the E-TEC would never run right and left him stranded many times so he is recovering [re-powering?] with Yamaha. I thought it was very unprofessional.

My mechanic thinks I had needle bearing failure in the lower unit. (It's poking the the unit). Will get an estimate but most likely looking like a new lower unit is needed. If that's the case it will be decision time.

Thanks Mav, great insight. If money were not a concern I would go E-TEC, but I may have a chance to get the Suzuki for thousands less, if it comes to that.

The hull is a 1999 but the motor was made in 1997. Price is also a concern.
