Time for drain tubes
Just bought my 1986 18' Outrage and want to replace the tubes. What size are the three stern splash well drain tubes? My plugs are way too small for them. They almost fit inside, the whole pug, not the rubber part. How long is the stern tube that is inside the rigging tunnel cover? That one is a nor...

The newer sport at 600lbs or so is a much better improvement over the classic but Phil is right. Bud had one with a 30hp, needs more power but Ok with light load.

Phil I have roughly 520-540lbs in the stern now, another 50 or so won't make a difference. My 200lbs will offset it unlike Dave ;) Plus moving battery under console will offset some. Twin 70's back in the 80's was roughly 520lbs plus one battery and they are at my expected 580lbs.

Picked up my OUTRAGE 18 today. The F115 engine is mounted all the way up and has a stainless steel 17 or 18-pitch propeller. The engine hit 5,800-RPM. Suzuki engines like to be mounted high.

Engine is probably $2,000.
Trailer $1,000.
Figure in the hull depending on condition to make the $5,000 to $8,000.

Make sure it is plastic or SS.
I used to live at marine surplus. This is my first restoration since around 08 so it's been a while. I was there a couple weekends ago for gas struts for a hatch. They usually do not have OMC tachs so check the poles as most are 4,6,8.

5 pole...ok. I knew it was weird. Most of the tachs I run are Teleflex or gaffrig. You need a non-systems check tach which in this day might be hard to find. Most of my recent rigging has been modern 4 stroke Suzukis so out of the loop. In my opinion, OMC makes a superior tach when used on an OMC. M...

Suzuki engines have a very high gear ratio compared to others which in my opinion gives a better holeshot but also can give the feeling of no low end power for cruise(not worded correctly) If you have a 6300 redline, obviously you are gong to cruise at a higher RPM. With jackplates you can keep raising the engines until you go too high then lower them a 1/2inch. You will put more stress on the transom going deeper than if you raise them....hence the low speed due to drag which means stress.
