Re: C.1980 Outrage 25 200-HP

Did they make the 25 in 1979? If so the 1979 brochure was the last year they posted performance numbers with the max and min hp. I would think I would want the larger displacement engine if going with a 200. The difference of a 200 vs 225 would be minimal in my opinion.

Re: Fitting 20-inch-shaft Engine to older 13-footer

I believe you can not get PTnT with a 15" shaft. Many people put 20inch engines on their older hulls, as Phil and Jim mention. Many people want and desire an electric start engine with power trim and tilt engine, and it will benefit in resale. And, as you know, will be much easier to find used ...

Why are you bothering? Drill out the thermostat and put the "plug" that is left back in and run. It will have sufficient backpressure and will not run too cold. Unless running in cold temperatures a LOT, it is not really necessary to run a thermos if it is giving you grief. PS: they make a...

Re: 1978 Montauk 17 or 1960 Nauset 16: Re-power with 130-HP

To summarize: Engine mounting is identical on older OMC and Yamaha engines to your 90hp today. The difference was many dealers used the blind holes as it was normal to have the engine mounted smack on the transom which has been proven to rob performance and hence why we mount higher today. A good in...

Many times the trim "tab" on a jackplate does not do as much due to elevated height. Steering is easy to check as the jackplate makes installing the cable a cinch.

Start saving for a new engine. You would get 31 with a 35 or 40hp. Trimmed out should be at least 40, more like 45+ setup correctly and no gear.

A real Lo-pro. Don't see too many of them in original condition etc. I would estimate probably the $3500-5500 range depending on fuel tank, soft spots, water in the hull, etc. The engine and trailer are not worth much overall.

They made the 110 for a couple of years in the 80's for whatever reason. Kinda like the 185hp. It is not a SPL version like the 88 or 112 and hence why I "assume" it has PTnT. Looks to be a 1985 but not a great pic.

How far out are you trimming the engine? In the pic it does not look trimmed at all or barely. You need to trim it all the way out until it breaks loose and then blip it down until it catches(at WOT). At cruise you want a nice flat wake, no tall skinny wake and no spray from the sides.
