On My Montauk 170 I use a Fortress FX-7 with 8 feet of stainless steel chain as my main anchor and a Fortress Guardian G-5 as my stern and back-up anchor. Most of my anchoring is in sand and soft mud and this set-up has suited me well.

I would have preferred the dealer use black starboard under the new Evinrude controls, so I might change that out at a later date. Notice the six Evinrude gauges compared the original Mercury gauge lay-out in the picture I posted above.

I prefer to trailer without a cover on. Wind buffering on the cover and the cover wearing away some gel coat is always a concern. I find peace of mind trailering without the cover. I have always used the universal version of the rubber M-Y wedge to support the outboard:

A few of us CW members have installed the Turboswing. I installed one on my 170 Montauk and it has worked out very well. I can easily tow large tubes, multiple tubes--plus I tow two skiers very often.

I agree with the other comments. I have owned both - the 170 Montauk is a much larger boat. The 115 Yamaha is a good match for the hull, you will not be disappointed.

My 170 Montauk on it's factory trailer with swing tongue is 20' 4" - If you shorten the bow stop or have custom made bow stop and move the bunks forward - I think you might be able to get the length where you need it. You might need to move the axle forward also to get the correct tongue weight...

Jim - I believe it is the company's logo. The icon over top the logo is the XHUB's battery indicator. It shows the battery status of the xFOB. The ring on the xHUB is the pairing indicator.
