PORT--you are in Lowrance support Hell. I don't know how they could suggest that the POINT-1 AP cannot receive GPS satellites. That makes no sense. It is receiving GLONASS satellites, which is much harder for most of their devices to do.

My experience with a classic 13 SPORT is limited to a boat with remote steering and controls. That set-up makes for a great little boat. I think the remote controls and steering would be much preferable to a tiller-steering outboard.

The mechanical steering was probably a Teleflex helm. That brand is now called Seastar Solutions. There are many choices in their mechanical cable steering helms.

When you remove the helm you should see identifying marks that will inform on the particular model.

Yes, the joint between the deck and the cover for the fuel tank should be caulked. Use a sealant whose color matches the deck and hatch gel coat resin color. Don't use an adhesive. Many times a silicon bathroom caulk is used.
