Converting Holux USB GPS Receiver to Serial

Postby JonathanFernas » Thu Nov 28, 2019 6:10 am

I have an old Holux USB GPS receiver. I think the model is GM-210. I have no use for it as a USB device, but do need it to go into a D-sub 9 port.

Can I just snip the USB end off of it, take the power leads and re-terminate them to a 5 VDC source, then take the other 2 TX/RX wires and terminate those to the D-sub?

Will that work?

A “D Sub 9” does not define much other than a connector.

USB is a serial bus protocol.

Are you trying to convert to a point-to-point serial data link protocol like RS-232?
