Postby jokke » Sat Sep 08, 2018 12:16 pm

Where can I find information on a Boston Whaler Outrage 25 1980 to 1990 model?

The specifications you are interested in will be found in the REFERENCE section. See the section listed under Specifications, ALL 9 - 31-foot hulls.

It is also useful to ask specific questions about the classic OUTRAGE 25 c.1980 to c.1990. You may find that instead of just asking for "information" if you ask a specific question you will get the specific information you are seeking.

Thank you for the answers. I am looking in to buying this boat:

Does anyone have any experience with single engines on [an OUTRAGE 25]?

I am thinking a single Verado 350 would be great. Thoughts?

The listing is correct. An Outrage 25 is rare in Norway.

When buying any Boston Whaler, there are a few things to check closely.

--Through hull fittings- There are several on the transom and at leaset 2 in the hull, one a meter or so from the stern and one below the anchor locker in the bow.
--deck: walk in bare feet and feel for any soft spots, especially on the tank, livewell, anchor and storage locker covers.

In terms of pricing:

130,000 NOK = 15,799 USD

A 1998 Outrage 17 II listed at the bottom of the ad listing shows of 170,000 NOK or $20,660.
https://www.finn.no/127904945

In the US if that boat were for sale in Texas, a state that LOVES the Outrage 25 for fishing in the Gulf, it would fetch ~12-15,000 USD.

As for repower, here is a decent thread from a repower to a VERADO 300. Note the owner installed a 30-inch-shaft engine and not the recommended 25-inch, so he added a bracket. Worth noting is the wide open throttle speed (WOT) of close to 50-MPH or 79 km/h. If you installed a 350, you would most likely see 55-MPH or 88 km/h. I would expect the hull to get unstable at that speed.

If the Ficht engines are running well, may consider running them for a few years before a repower.

Here is one of several discussions about moving from TWIN to SINGLE engines. This particular thread discusses the same Outrage 25 model you are considering.

Hope this helps.

That OUTRAGE 25 for sale in Norway looks like a great boat. The center console is not quite what I am used to seeing. It might be a Boston Whaler OEM console, but maybe something adapted. In either case, it is a very nice set-up. The two-tone deck treatment is also unusual, but very attractive.

If that boat were in Michigan and the asking price were only $15,800 it would sell in less than a week.
