Here is a link to an article which was in the Patriot Ledger, a newspaper south of Boston, about two years ago. Once you get past the pop-up advertising, you will find a photo of the plant floor with many Whalers in various stages of completion, as well as an interesting story about the company. The photo is stated to be from 1987.

I don't think Hunn is still working on that book project.

That newspaper has some great file photos, and I would love to see more of them.

Many moons ago I used to sell Acetone. I remember visiting the Whaler Rockland plant moments after they just told the employees that the were closing the plant. I'm guessing that was around 1990. I felt terrible for them.

Thanks for posting the article. I remember touring the Rockland, Massachusetts, plant in 1990. I still remember the strong smell of resin everywhere we went until we went into the wood shop and then it was the sweet smell of cut teak and mahogany. We then toured the Edgewater, FL plant in 1994. Although it was well organized and impressive, the Edgewater plant did not have the same feel as the Rockland plant.
