Boston Whaler and Rolls Royce
Just reading in a car magazine about the new $400,000 Rolls Royce Dawn convertible and how they got a convertible to be so quiet. Rolls Royce says, "whereever you have hollow spaces, you have resonance, so we fill those spaces with injectable foam". They call it a special proprietary composite foam material. Pretty cool. Amazing technology. Our quiet Boston Whalers are in good company.

Re: Boston Whaler and Rolls Royce
Welcome Rolls Royce to the forum?
Now Rolls owners can join the eternal debate about foam absorbing water, and how much can it absorb, and how much does it weigh when wet? Is this foam flamable, and what color is it, and how long does it last.
Then there may be the debate about how to get the water out and does absorbed water cause rust.
Will the extra weight decrease fuel mileage?
I am sure Rolls has looked into these problems; however any British vehicle I was ever around collected water in an infinite number of spaces which did not drain. Is this ancient history, or just history repeating itself as it so often does?
Only the Shadow knows!
