Outrage 18 Full Cover Vendors

Postby Malcolm Goodfellow » Wed Nov 30, 2016 7:00 pm

I have spent a bit of time researching a cover for my newly acquired 1988 Outrage 18. Of course, a cover from Wm. J. Mills & Co. is the purist's choice.

A friend of mine just took possession of a Westland Exact-fit cover for his 1984 Outrage 18 from RNR Marine.

I found a Carver-made cover at RNR for $608 (delivered) but could not get the Westland cover price from RNR. They didn't respond to my phone calls or e-mail. The posts here about RNR seem to be spot on.

A desperate search found COVERANYTHING.COM--as generic and dangerously broad as it sound--to have just what I wanted at a great, if not best, price: Sunbrella, two vents, straps, motor cover, free shipping, no sales tax, for $571--all in. For a value based guy, this was a good day.

Malcolm--[$571] is a good value for a cover that is a good fit and well constructed.

Carver Covers have several retailers and some price the semi-custom covers a little more aggressively than others. A benefit of the Carver covers is that they are trailerable. For those who do not tow their boats very far the ability to tow with the cover installed may have no value, but it is a feature I often use.

Butch, thank you for the input. I understand the Westland is designed for trailering. They, like the Carver, have "V" loops sewn around the perimeter for lashing it down with the included straps, specifically for trailering. Just ordered and have never actually seen the cover, so I speak from a pulpit of ignorance. Malcolm. Speaking of ignorance, I just caught on. This post belongs in the GAM index, not here. So sorry but it is my first day on the job. Can anyone fix my blunder? Malcolm

Curious to see how you like the cover.

Finally tried the new Westland cover and the fit is very very good. It came with vents, straps for trailering, and a motor cover that fits my Yamaha F150 like a glove. Very happy!

Yes, well, sorry. This was a quick confirmation excersize. I am just starting to put this boat back together in my hangar. I won't be able to re-install and take photos for months. I should have thought of this. Sorry,my bad.

Why not take 5 min to throw it on and take the dam photos? The console is now out of the boat as are the seats.
