Hi (again),
I'm trying to locate a photo of a Hickman Sea Sled that I might reproduce in the book. The photos I took on a visit to Mystic Seaport Museum aren't precisely what I need (I blame the photographer), so I'm hopeful that someone might one in their personal collection.
Ideally, I'd like a photo of the Sea Sled that helps the reader see the evolution in the hull design from Sea Sled to Whaler. But I'm well aware of the old saw about beggars and choosers.
Email me if you have any leads.
Season's Greetings.

Re: Photo of Hickman Sea Sled
In the magazine WOODEN BOAT there was an article about the Hickman Sea Sled. It was published about 20-years ago. Somewhere around here I have a copy of that magazine--but darned if I know where. You might try contacting that magazine and see if you can get permission to use some of the photography from that article.
See the article on folio 46 in this PDF:

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reminder. I completely forgot about this article by David Seidman. The two of us exchanged emails early in my research process. I'll work with WoodenBoat to secure reproduction rights. These photos are perfect.
Thanks again.
