New Guy, in Florida...

Good Morning, all. New Guy here. I live on the East coast of Florida, approximately 12 miles from Port Canaveral, and half-mile from the Indian River, which I grew up on. Yesterday I acquired my first Boston Whaler, a 1958 restored 13 classic with a Johnson 50. Hull number 588 is stenciled in the forward anchor locker. Pics are sure to follow, but my main camera is a Nikon digital and fear they're going to be too large for the forum. Today I hope to fire her up! Previous owner stated she runs. She came with a spare, newer freshwater 50 HP.

Back in July I traded my antique Harley Davidson Shovelhead for a 1982 Corvette--my family wanted me off that bike. I'm old (61). The Corvette ran, but needed restoration. I traded the Corvette for the Whaler. The Whaler joins two other boats I already have: A North American S-22 for offshore, and a little Caribbean Sailing Pram I finished building last year.

I've been lurking on the site for about a year or so, and finally felt somewhat worthy to finally join. To be honest, I'm not much for forums anymore, but you folks have a great deal of information.

With a stencil number of 558 you've certainly got an early 13-footer.
