[Give me a source for a] teak wood cover that covers [aft cockpit sump where there are] the steering and electrical wires in [the stern] of a 1988 17 Montauk.

If you want to buy one, Walt from Blackduck Galleries manufactures OEM quality wood parts. He is a great guy and a trusted source.

Do you have the original part? I would anticipate that you could easily make a duplicate, using the original as a pattern. A cockpit sump cover cut from plywood is not exactly complicated carpentry.

Along the same line as the suggestion by jimh, you may want to consider fabricating a sump cover in aluminum or stainless steel plate. Use a bench grinder to round the corners, a sander for finishing the edges and a drill press for fastener location and you're done. If you don't have access to those tools, it will likely be a low cost job at a local welding or metal fabrication shop.

While I really appreciate teak and mahogany applications in classic Boston Whalers, using teak for the sump cover in that location leaves room for improvement. I used plate aluminum in the 1987 Montauk 17 that I refit several years ago. Stainless steel is going into the 1984 Montauk 17 refit that's currently in progress. Either one looks great (in my opinion), both are very functional and both eliminate future maintenance.

The cockpit sump cover on my boat was made from plywood, albeit a nice marine mahogany plywood. It was beginning to deteriorate. I coated the plywood with WEST System epoxy, then applied a top coat of varnish. This turns the wood into a completely sealed component. I did this many years ago, and the sump cover remains in perfect condition. I recommend this sort of treatment for the sump covers as they tend to be chronically wet.

When I had the 25 Revenge Walk-thru, the sump cover was re-done in King Starboard, which matched the deck. Worked out very nice. Easy to work Starboard.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Phil T. I actually ordered from Black Duck Gallery. He made me a cover and it looks great!
