Anchor locker liner
Anchor locker liner
While taking delivery of our new Montauk 170 last week the dealer suggested that we put some kind of pad or liner in the anchor locker to keep the anchor from chipping the gel coat there. I'm seeking information on how other owners have addressed this. Many thanks.

Re: Anchor locker liner
I just took delivery of a 210 Montauk and I am in the same position. I just ordered a 3' x12' roll of Dri-Dek®: https://www.dri-dek.com
I will be using it to line the center console interior floor, fish box, two compartments under the aft seats and the anchor locker. The anchor locker on any model Montauk is very multi-dimensional and I am not sure how well this will work. I have read on other sites that I can heat the Dri-Dek® with a heat gun, and it will hold the shape of the anchor locker. I will let you know how this works out - I should get my delivery mid-week.

Re: Anchor locker liner
I used a few pieces of dri-dek in my anchor locker.
You can cut it if it suits your fancy. And I put a piece up the aft bulk head where the anchor contact it.

An old life jacket vest works great.
Re: Anchor locker liner
I use the 1-foot square pieces of Dri-Deak. I'm using them in the anchor locker, the forward bow compartment and the floor of the center console to allow some air circulation.
Thanks,

Re: Anchor locker liner
For installing Dri-Dek, you don't need a heat gun, rather a warm day on the driveway. If cold and stiff it will conform with some weight.
The beauty of Dri-Dek is the ability to easily shape it to the area you want.

Re: Anchor locker liner
I have used 1/2" thick high density foam with adhesive backing that lasted many years and it also gives you sound deadening advantages.
Yes a fluke anchor will damage it over time but it is easily cut with utility knife and/or scissors.
Last but and least an old beach towel works great too.
