Can an Outrage 190 handle Raritan and Sandy hook

Postby budpat1 » Thu Jun 29, 2017 3:07 pm

HI, first time boat buyer, I am looking at an Outrage 190 with a Merc 150XL EFI. I am wondering how she would handle in the afternoon slop around Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay. I've been out on a friends 23' Robalo WA and she handled it well. Can anyone offer me some of their experience running a smaller BW preferably the Outrage 190 in these waters.

Of course the 190 Outrage can handle your waters. The bigger question is can you handle those waters in a 19 foot hull. Check out the local marinas and count the Boston Whalers. They are very tough long lasting boats.

For really sloppy waters a larger hull would do much better.

The simple anser is YES. I have had my 16' Dauntless in the bay numerous times and it worked quite well. A 19' is ideal for those beautiful summer days. When the winds kick up in the afternoon and lightening gets close, pull the plug and head for the marina. Did that many times on my Uncle's Nauset (16')
