photobucket - 3rd party linking $399 per year

Well it appears photobucket is holding everyone's photos that are "3rd party linked" hostage to the sum of $399 per year.
They can go pound salt and hopefully they will go under like the previous photo sites that tried the same thing.

Indeed they're a rather rude bunch to dump on so many individuals and communities. May they soon crater.
Whether free or paid, users of all hosting or cloud services should be aware of the risks of permanently loosing items stored.

I haven't been on the site lately. If I'm unable to retrieve my photos we will have a problem. The best thing that can happen is for everyone to dump them.

You can go on pb and click on an album. Over on the right side is an option to download that album. Sub albums have to be downloaded individually.

The site is now flooded with advert popups and now worthless.
I moved to Flickr but with the ability to post large photos here, the hosting is not so important as back in the day.

That pushed me over the edge to dump them and close my account. I think they'll be going under soon.
