Rub Rail Protectant

Postby jfaisten » Tue Jul 18, 2017 7:05 am

My [boat's] rub rail is badly stained from the previous owner. Stains appear white. I'm thinking of using a tire protectant product like 303. Is that the best choice?

Thanks

You can use lacquer thinner to remove the stains.

303 will improve the appearance but it is cosmetic.

Wet sand the vinyl insert with WD40.

I had to replace all the manuals on the boat -- received the BW manual yesterday. They indicate to not use anything with chemicals. in any case, I think I'm going to try the WD40 and the lacquer thinner on small sections and go from there. Would be nice to use 303 or Starbrite Rub Rail Cleaner but as Phil indicated -- probably just cosmetic.
Thanks for the advice.
