Coast Guard Ninth District Change of Command

Postby jimh » Mon Oct 02, 2017 9:04 am

This summer the command of the United States Coast Guard Ninth District was passed to a new commanding officer. Rear Admiral Joanna Nunan, Commander, Ninth Coast Guard District, U.S. Coast Guard, took over as the senior Coast Guard Commander for the Great Lakes and Saint Lawrence Seaway. Rear Admiral Nunan has an impressive resumé of experience in her 30-years of service in the Coast Guard.

Rear Admiral Nunan takes over from Rear Admiral June Ryan, who is retiring from the Coast Guard. Rear Admiral Ryan was the first woman commander of the Coast Guard Ninth District. This also makes Rear Admiral Nunan the first woman to relieve another woman in command of a Coast Guard District.

RADM Nunan worked for me when she was CO of the Ironwood in Kodiak. She's squared away and on top of that a nice person.
