Sharing my son's Drone Vid

Postby dtmackey » Thu Dec 28, 2017 9:10 am

My son had a DJI Phantom 3 drone and we brought it on the boat this summer to capture some action video. This was his first time taking good video and editing it all together and also his first time over water.

My son stayed on a separate boat where he launched and retrieved the drone and that can be seen in some shots. He shot about 25 mins of video and then edited down to the vid in the link and chose the music to complement. It was breezy that morning, so that was an added challenge. The vid is shot at the mouth of Marblehead Harbor in MA, where we moor the boat.

The vid was also picked up my the Nordic Tug owners group (SENTOA.ORG) on the after they reached out to me for permission.

After this vid, he decided to sell the Phantom 3 and upgraded to the Mavid Pro so he can shoot in full 4K. It has other capabilities over the Phantom 3 that he wanted as well.

Enjoy.

Great photography on a beautiful day.

I am always impressed with drone photography over water. The drone pilot must be darn confident about being able to fly the drone and recover it.

Great shots of Marblehead (and the boat too). I recognized the harbor after a few seconds. Hadn't been there since 1971. Easy to remember with the lighthouse and harbor configuration.

You all remember that the USS Constitution escaped the British in Marblehead in 1814.

Well done. To have a great video of your boat in action must be nice.

Nice.

The Mavic Pro was on sale at Costco over Christmas and I thought it just might pop up somewhere Christmas morning.....

I have a reputation for always buying things I want on my own and never giving the family a chance - guess I'll have to continue my tradition :-)
Thanks,

Duane I rather by a boat for that price of the drone as Santa Claus will never bring me something like that.
