54-quart Cooler and Cushion Replacement

Postby glurtis » Thu Jan 11, 2018 8:11 pm

I just bought a 2001 160 Dauntless with a 54-quart cooler in bad shape. The tie down straps are gone. The seat is in bad shape. And there was never a backrest cushion.

My wife's main fix are the cushions on the cooler and backrest. I need to replace the cooler and cushions. Does anyone have recommended replacements?

Replacement uphosltery: http://continuouswave.com/whaler/refere ... upholstery

Replacement coolers: buy the identical cooler from the OEM.

Call Tena @ Anderson's. (see link above).

They are the source for OEM cushions.

Hello,

I replaced the worn out cooler in my 2003 160 Dauntless with a Yeti Tundra 45. See information at: https://www.yeti.com/hard-coolers/tundr ... /YT45.html It's dimensions fit nearly perfectly in the space and you can buy tie downs for it that work nicely. Frankly, it's so heavy I don't need the tie downs most of the time. I love it for a couple reasons. Firstly, I fill it with ice, drinks and food on Friday night and still have everything frosty cold on Sunday even after sitting out in 90 degree heat. Secondly, it is such a stable seat people don't even know its a cooler until I have them get up so I can get a cold one. Yes, it's many times more expensive than a typical Igloo cooler and may not be the right choice for everyone but for me the "cool" factor (pardon the pun) was worth it.

Do a word search on this site for some nice discussions about coolers.

Regards,

Todd

Thanks. All the replies give me some options and a chance to figure out what my real requirement is for the cooler and seat. My wife calls the cooler "her seat." I will make her happy.--glurtis

Last spring, West Marine carried the Igloo 54-quart marine cooler and a cushion to fit it. The cushion won't be an original Boston Whaler cushion, but it is a good cushion.---ron
