Yeti Coolers on Classic MONTAUK 17

Postby Landlocked » Tue Feb 27, 2018 2:04 pm

Has anyone tried the [Yeti] 105 in front of the console of a classic Montauk? I like the height but concerned the shepherds crook might interfere with opening. It looks like it might have a slightly smaller footprint than the Igloo marine 90 which would be good given limited space up there.

I am not soliciting a debate about YETI cooler advantages or disadvantage, nor the costs, nor whether or not the dang thing keeps ice one-minute longer.

We are big people. Igloo cooler seats are not up to the challenge. I'm buying a nice seat that will double as a dry box or a cooler and will last a long time. I also want one of those stickers everybody has to stick on my truck window..

Santa Claus bought a Grizzly 75 for my Outrage 18. With a 3" cushion on top I will need to hold it open against the shepherd crook to get stuff in or out.

I can't figure out how to post pictures yet or I would show the Grizzly in front of the console.

Got the pic - thanks!. Looks like it is very close to same size as the Yeti 105. The Grizzly is 15 1/8 x 31 7/8 x17 7/8 high. the Yeti 105 is 16 3/8 by 29 1/4 x15 3/4 to bottom of lid. lid would add another 3 inches at least. (Not sure why they measure it that way) . Your boat is a bit wider than the Montauk but I believe it has the same console. Based on the pic, I believe this will work just fine and I love the look of the higher end cooler in the boat. Thanks again!

Looked at the Yeti and RTIC and they are nearly the same cooler but varied in price quite a bit (Yeti was 40% more). I bought the RTIC and it performs every bit as good as the Yeti for the three-times-a-year I use it.

You can also check out the SHITI coolers. ;-)

That's one nice Snapper ConB. Not sure I could handle one that size.
Got me a stack full of Bass Pro Gift Cards, credit card points, etc. Gonna stick with Yetti since that's what they carry. Should about have enough to cover the 105.

I have an 80-quart ENGLE cooler that fits perfectly in front of the console. It's slightly less expensive then a Yeti. I've not had any problems with it and would recommend it highly.

We have a Yeti 105 on our 1988 18 Outrage, which has the same console as you Montauk, and love it. It's the right width for 2 people. It's tall but our deck has a step up forward of it. The rail isn't a problem with the lid but it is with your shoulder. I made a center divider to help organize contents. The weight doesn't noticeably effect the boat but can be a problem when cleaning around it.
