Selling MONTAUK--Talk Me Out of Doing It

Postby jkraft » Fri Mar 09, 2018 12:54 pm

Life gets busy and I have three boats and limited time to use them. Someone slap me before I decide to list my old girl!

What are your other boats?

How many days did you use a boat last year?

How many days did you use the Montauk?

Why did you use the other boats over the Montauk?

Phil, I have two 26 Shamrocks, one cuddy ad one pilothouse center console. Both of them are wet slipped and its easy to hit the key and go. The benefit to the Montauk is that it is so versatile, I can get her in shallow water, and its a great do anything boat.

I put 75 hours on the other two boats last year and 3 hours on the Montauk

It looks like the MONTAUK fits in that garage, so no cost to store it. If you sell, you will have remorse.

So what will selling it do for you? Add some dollars into your checking account? If you need the money sell it. Otherwise keep it. You will regret selling it if you don’t have to. It’s a beauty.

Sell the two Shamrocks and keep the Montauk.

As I got older my boats got smaller. I'm down to a 15 foot Whaler. It's a lot easier for an old fart to manage. Keep the Whaler!

Get rid of one of the Shamrocks. Why do you need two of those anyway?

Alright, I think I have decided to keep it for the time being. Thank you for the opinions and reaching out to me. I am a diehard whaler fan but I restored both Shamrocks and they are a little better suited for the way I regularly boat.
