For owners of a 1994 to 1998 OUTRAGE 24:

My 1997 Outrage 24 is currently getting a makeover.

[Question seeking advice on engine mounting has been moved to an existing thread in PERFORMANCE by this same author seeking similar advice--jimh]

Is there a saltwater grounding plate anywhere on the hull?

The fuel tank is grounded to a grounding block under the console. There was a ground wire that was broken in the area of the fuel filler cap. I don’t know what the wire was attached to. The filler cap is plastic. Did the boat originally have a metal filler cap?

The double console doors on the starboard side is missing the middle latch. According to Sue at Beacon Marine and the Whaler factory, the company that made the latch went out of business shortly after the last 1998 hull was built.

Is there another latch that will work?

Thanks. Please share some photos of your OUTRAGE 24--I love to see them. I’ll post some pictures of my boat when the rebuild is done.

The grounding system uses a block and the negative wire. The engine leg contacting water completes the circuit.
Typically the OEM filler cap has been stainless steel. It may have been replaced by a prior owner. Can you post a photo?

Can you take a photo of the broken latch so we can direct you to a replacement?
