275 Conquest: Convert Dinette to Berth

Postby A&ADavis » Mon Jun 25, 2018 12:24 am

I am new to the forum, but a longtime Whaler owner. My wife and I just moved from smaller (13 to 16-feet) Boston Whaler boats and jumped up to a 2003 275 Conquest. We purchased it in Florida; we are in California. Although we did not see the 275 Conquest in person, we had it inspected and are overall happy with our purchase. However, we just realized that we are unable to convert the dinette to a berth in the forward cabin.

We do not know how the forward dinette is supposed to convert to a berth. A piece appears to be missing, but we do not know what it is. We have the dinette table, the pole to make it a table, and plenty of cushions (possibly extra, which is a mystery). We just cannot figure out how to attach the table at the lower level in order to convert to a bed. Any guidance (ideally a video or photos) would be greatly appreciated.

I reviewed the diagrams on Boston Whaler's website, under RESOURCES for the 2003 Conquest 275 and did not find one for the question at hand.

As a new owner, it would be wise for you to visit http://www.bostonwhaler.com/boat-ownership/resources/ and enter the YEAR, MODEL FAMILY and MODEL and print out the approximately 58 diagrams and parts lists for your boat for future reference.

If other members do not offer advice after a week or so, I would contact Boston Whaler Customer Service via their contact form. They are very knowledgeable and may have the information you seek.

I believe the table and support pole are removed and placed under the font berth cushion. There should be a piece of wood/starboard that is then inserted (vertically) across the berth (from the galley/port to starboard) and the cushions are adjusted to fill in. I believe they rest/lifted onto other cleats forward. If you are missing the support piece you may need to contact Whaler.

Thank you everyone! We played with it quite a bit, and we think we have it set up properly (or at least it supports our weight). We kept trying to use the entire table as a support, but that did not work. We realized that only a small portion of the table was needed.

Should look something like this (minus the table and post).

The table should be turned around and stick out a bit from under the front cushion

This is exactly what we needed. Thank you, this verifies that we are doing the right thing. Jolly Roger, just in case you may know, we have these 4 extra cushions. Any idea what they might be for? They are made by the same manufacturer as the other cushions. They sort of fill in the space below the seats (I can see you have a similar gap in your photo), but they are not a perfect fit. They do not seem to serve any purpose.

Tough to tell from the photo, but this is the configuration of cushions. On the 305 Conquest, the "seats" come together to fill the table gap and the "backs" then slide down to fill in the remaining gaps.

Looks like the 275 Conquest does the same thing but there are extra cushions in between
