I was boating around on Lake Michigan last Monday and coming back to South Haven running the boat at about 27-MPH (which is just short of WOT), and a smaller Whaler passed me like I was standing still. I didn't recognize the model, and when I caught up in the harbor I saw it was an 120 Impact, which with I was not familiar.
The boat was a 2001 12 IMPACT. The owner thought but he had a 2016 40-HP Mercury on it, and it flew for a two person boat. Closed foredeck 12-feet long. Owner was using it as a tender to his big boat but didn't know any specifics besides it floated and was fast.
He said great performance in waves less than half-foot high--and it showed. He must have been going well over 40-MPH, as I could not catch up to him at 34-MPH. We had the same load: two crew.
Looked up some info. The 12 IMPACT seemed to be great little boat that didn't make it as the 13-foot boats were a better deal.

Re: 12 IMPACT
Yes, Boston Whaler made a 12 IMPACT for a short time, 2001 to possibly 2003, and marketed it as a tender. I think some of them were sold bundled with big Sea Ray yachts. The price was rather steep, perhaps $18,000. I think the hull had wrap-around soft fendering so it wouldn't cause any marks on the yacht it was tied to.
The dimensions (from the REFERENCE section article on dimensions and production years)
Length = 11-feet 6-inch
Beam = 5-feet 6-inch
Draft = 6-inch
Dry Weight = 650-lbs
Max. Weight Capacity = 800-lbs
Swamped Capacity = 1,200-lbs
Persons Capacity = 4
Max. HP = 30 (2001) 40 (2002)
Min. HP = 25
Max. Engine Weight. (2002) = 210 lbs.
Transom Height = 15-inch/20-inch (2001/2002)
Fuel: 14-gallon

Re: 12 IMPACT
Dutch - WOT for a 150 Montauk is 35mph. If you aren't getting that start a new thread and we can discuss.

"....as I could not catch up to him at 34-MPH"
I do not think Dutch needs to start a new thread.

Re: 12 IMPACT
correct I don't need another thread. Alone (which with my weight is 2 light crew) I can get the 35-36 mph but with an extra person and many other items on board I can only reach 34 which is fine.
