Cut-in-half Demo 13-footer

Postby Oldslowandugly » Mon Jul 30, 2018 10:48 am

I saw [a cut-in-half 13-footer listed for sale]. [Putting it back together] would be quite a task. I guess anything is fixable if you are determined enough.

I've always assumed that these demo boats are chosen for this fate because they have foam voids or other QC defects that make them unsaleable. But if you're looking to return this boat to regular duty, I suspect foam voids are the least of your worries.

My understanding of these 13-foot boats cut in half for dealer displays: the dealer does not get the same front and back halves to make sure they don’t try to put them back together.

Only a fool would buy one of these, and only a fool would think you could put the two mismatched halves together.

I'm pretty sure there is a hillbilly shade tree mechanic somewhere thinking a few gallons of fiberglass would do the trick. The only thing stopping him is the asking price--even though the motor and trailer alone are probably worth the asking price.
