Loadmaster Trailer for 2001 Montauk 170

Postby RickInFla » Mon Jul 30, 2018 3:29 pm

After many years of distinguished service the galvanized EZLoader trailer which was original to my Montauk 170, bought new in 2001, has reached the end of its service life.

After research and pricing I am leaning toward a new aluminum Loadmaster.

2 questions;

1. Has anyone here seen or have a Montauk 170 on a Loadmaster trailer? If yes, can you tell me does the hull sit between the fenders or above them? On the EZLoader mine sat slightly down between the plastic fenders with very little clearance. My concern on the Loadmaster is aluminum fenders and the potential for damage to the hull. Is my concern justified?

2. What is the absolute width from the outside of the fenders? Our house is elevated and the boat is parked beneath. I have clearance of 97" between the pilings. Manufacturer gives 88" for the trailer which is comparable to the EZLoader and I am hoping is accurate. I know this one is probably a long-shot but can't hurt to ask.

Thanks,

Rick
