230 OUTRAGE

Postby CXM1971 » Sun Aug 26, 2018 11:05 am

It seems that the new [ 230 OUTRAGE] has been a succesful model for Boston Whaler [and is] selling quite well.

[Seeks] feedback [from readers] on [the new 230 OUTRAGE] boat.

[Seeks testimonials on the 230 OUTRAGE] ride.

I love [that the 230 Outrage] can be fitted with twin engines, a feature that not many 23-feet boats nowadays have.

I decided on one without a sea trial—crazy I know. I am banking on the Outrage sea-keeping reputation and Whaler’s quality.

What is the basis for this?

Do you have data about unit sales volume?

jimh—I do [have data on Boston Whaler production volume for the 230 Outrage]: 114 units (and counting) have been produced since its introduction in 2016. Whaler keeps a tab on how many boats they have sold of a particular model, in this case my Outrage 230 is number 114. Therefore, there must be 113 Outrage 230 out there, even though I would not know how many of them would be in a dealer’s inventory.

I base my opinion in the fact that in just a little over two years over 100 boats of this particular model have been produced, it seems to be a succesful model for Whaler.

I am hoping to get some feedback from owners or people that have spent some time on one.

Boston Whaler starts their numbering at 100. Your boat was the 15th one built for that model year.

CXM —thank you for clarifying your data source—your own boat’s hull stencil number or federal HIN number on which you have made your own interpretation and inference.

In all the years I have been collecting data about Boston Whaler boats, I have never seen any production volume data, let alone production volume data broken down by model and year. This experience accounts for my inquiry into your data and its authenticity.

I also believe this info would be whaler top secret that they wouldn't like to share with public. In all my years looking at those HIN numbers I could never figure out how many hull of particular model they made . Some manufacturers like Regulator would number your hull from day one until last one rolls of assembly line so you would always know what hull number you have just by HIN number
