Re: 1964 13' center console custom
My 13 project is getting down to the rigging. This is my first time restoring a boat, I am a cabinetmaker so the bodywork, woodwork, and painting were familiar to me already. I still learned a lot of new things over the course of the project. I plan to add text to the pictures over the next few weeks explaining my method, the materials I used, and the trials and tribulations of working out of my range. Thanks, for letting me share my "whaler" experience.

Re: 1964 13' center console custom
Growing up in the land locked mid-west, I did not have very much exposure to the marine world. There were boats around of course, but they all looked the same. I can still remember the first time I saw a Boston Whaler on Dale Hollow lake in Ky. I had never seen a boat like that before, I was probably 10 or 11. I knew then that I had to own one some day, flash forward 30 some years and that day finally came late last year.

Design proved to be challenging. I had this idea of making a center console from the beginning, but I kept changing my mind. One minute I was sure, the next I thought why re-invent the wheel just do a traditional interior. I combed the web trying to find examples for inspiration. There are plenty of beautiful early whalers out there by the way. After tons of research and several mock-ups I decided to stay the center console course.
