2000 28 Conquest

Postby mpwhaler28 » Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:12 pm

I may buy a 2000 28 Conquest.

What is the ride [of a 2000 Boston Whaler 28 CONQUEST boat] in chop and seas?

I will primarily use it in a bay. I will also take it offshore on the east coast.

I will appreciate any help and input.

My current boat is a 25-foot Parker that has a modified V [hull], and it beats my brains out.

I know the Conquest also has a modified V [hull].

Would [a 2000 28 Conquest] be a significantly better ride [than a 25-foot PARKER due to] the Boston Whaler hull design?

The best way to determine if a c.2000 Boston Whaler 28 CONQUEST will have characteristics you find to be better than your current boat is to ask the seller to provide a sea trial in the 28 CONQUEST. Take a ride in the 28 CONQUEST "in chop and seas" and assess if you like the hull's behavior or not. I am not sure how to measure an improvement of "significantly better" when compared to the benchmark of "beats my brains out." These are somethat difficult to measure qualities.

Generally if underway in seas that cause the boat's ride to be uncomfortable, the remedies are limited: slow down, or get a bigger boat. Since a 28-foot CONQUEST is bigger than a 25-foot PARKER, the CONQUEST may provide some remedy to the discomfort.

Thanks for the feedback. Did a seatrial yesterday but unfortunately seas were calmer than I would have hoped. I looked online and saw some comments about the Conquest having a rough ride so figured I would see if anyone had any experience with the Parker and also the Whaler Conquest. Anyway, thanks again
