I was lucky enough to purchase this amazing 50-year-old Sakonnet.

Jim, the original owner, purchased this boat new in 1969. The boat is an absolute perfect condition, is all original (besides the engine), and looks like a brand new boat.

It is truly remarkable how for 50 years this gentleman kept this Boson Whaler in such meticulous shape. Jim handed over the keys with nostalgic stories of how it was one of the greatest days of his life, when he first launched this classic Whaler and got it up on plane on lake Minnetonka (Minnesota) in the spring of 1969. Telling his stories, he was as much of a gem as the boat itself.

I was shocked when he opened his garage door and included the original 1969 Bimini tops, original canvas cover, and an exact matching custom canvas center console cover his wife had sewn for him back in 1969. He included a huge file of every single document related to this boat, from the original sales brochure, all maintenance records, and original receipts for all accessories purchased over the years. Even the two drain plugs that came with the boat were original 1969 Whaler plugs.

Thank you Jim for making the sale of this boat a very special and memorable experience! Wishing you all the best.

Your new 1969 SAKONNET is certainly a museum-quality example of the model. The next 50-years of ownership will be on your watch, so keep up the same care and maintenance as the first-owner.

I purchased a similar [SAKONNET] when I was 15, in near perfect showroom condition with my paper route money for $1,400. That was around 46 years ago, Three years later I sold the [SAKONNET] for $3,500 for school money.

I had the [SAKONNET] in the roughest seas you could imagine. I had many great times on it.
