Re: Verify Boston Whaler from Images
If the boat in question were made by Boston Whaler, there would be an embossed molded-in federal hull identification number (HIN) on the transom that began with "BWC" or with "US BWC." See the FAQ for more advice on interpretation of the HIN.

Re: Verify Boston Whaler from Images
He received the same info from the other Whaler site weeks ago. Somebody did a very nice splash including the cap but it is not a Whaler.

Thanks to all.
I may never find a real Boston Whaler here.

Re: Verify Boston Whaler from Images
IN the US the last 2 digits are year so it would be a 2005. Whaler never made that hull in 2005.

Re: Verify Boston Whaler from Images
The photograph of a hull identification number seen above in Figure 1 is confirmation that the boat was not made by Boston Whaler.
The hull identification number appears to read TR-BSSB2201G505
The tag appears to be affixed to the hull with two Phillip pan-head screws.
There are several problems with this tag. First, the tag should NOT be affixed by easily removed screws. Tags are riveted into the hull in the USA.
Second, the manufacture date suggests a production date of July 2005 and a 2005 model year. In 2005 the hull identification number was REQUIRED to be EMBOSSED or MOLDED INTO THE HULL; a metal tag would hot have been used.
Third, all manufacturer identity codes (MIC) are three letter codes. The MIC "TR-" makes no sense. "TR-B" could be TRIUMPH BOATS of North Carolina. The "TR" could be some sort of prefix, and the MIC may be "BSS", BOSS BOATS of South Carolina. That is likely, as the next five characters would be the hull production sequence, or "B2201" However, BOSS BOATS is listed as "Out of Business" as of April 2003, which makes it difficult for them to manufacture a boat in 2005.
Previously posted images of the hull [now deleted] also showed non-Boston-Whaler-manufacturing appearances.
There is overwhelming evidence the boat was not made by Boston Whaler. It does have some superficial resemblance.
