Boating Under the Influence

Postby Jefecinco » Wed Jul 01, 2020 10:00 am

This weekend the various on-the-water police forces and the USCG will increase patrols looking for impaired boaters. They are very serious about this and often make arrests. Last weekend an Orange Beach Police patrol boat made an arrest in front of our place in Gulf Shores. I assume it pursued the pontoon boat from Orange Beach.

The operator was placed in handcuffs and taken aboard the patrol boat. The four passengers remained seated. The boat was towed away by the patrol boat, I assume back to Orange Beach. That offense will be expensive. Besides any fine levied for the offense a towing charge could be collected as well as any storage fees. I assume the boat was towed because none of the passengers were licensed, they were under the influence or the boat was stolen. All were young men possibly in their teens.
