Hull variations and towing weight

Postby goldstem » Fri Jul 31, 2020 12:17 pm

[T]he 13 and 15 ride and handle differently, but have about the same room inside. [T]he 16/17 is bigger, but a 3-series should tow it, at least under 200 miles without too much trouble. [I] tow a 16 with a [RAV4] and a [H]onda [A]ccord.

Great point, the tri hull on the 13 is the big difference, it’s less about the room and more about the way it handles. But let’s be honest, the 23 and 15 both beat the crap out of you when it’s choppy. ;) I learned how to water ski behind a 13, not easy. The 15 really moves.

Thanks for the insight.

I would not tow a 17' with a 3 series BMW. Actually with the exhaust on my wife's 335, I am not sure you could even put a hitch on it.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).
