Identify Boat Builder

Postby Shadyops » Fri Sep 11, 2020 2:10 am

I’m trying to determine the make of a boat with placard from Transport Canada saying it was made by KND Engineering and it’s a Silver Arrow.

There is a decal with a Boston Whaler logo on the side which does not seem “right.”

I am working on getting the HIN.

A boat that has a government agency declaration that it was not made by Boston Whaler seems unlikely to have been made by Boston Whaler. People have put decals on boats that don’t properly belong on them.

Many owners/sellers attach Boston Whaler decals to the aft exterior corner of a boat in attempt to fool unknowledgeable shoppers.

There are several posts a year by new owners asking which model of Boston Whaler they have just purchased, only to find out it is not a Boston Whaler rather an imitation model or other non-whaler model.

I would think the registration paperwork from Transport Canada would list the manufacturer and model.

The HIN of a Boston Whaler starts with "BWC".

A placard from transport Canada may be a government declaration or maybe it’s as fictitious or fraudulent as a borrowed Boston Whaler logo. I’m new to boating and I didn’t realize there was such a market for knockoff Whalers. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you, the seller is “looking” for a title and seems to not know how to find the HIN. I’ll be checking it out in person this weekend, but it likely is a fake.

Do you have a pic? If so we can save you a trip possibly.

What size is this boat? If you have a picture of it, check online for pictures of Boston Whaler models that size and age and you can usually identify a Boston Whaler.
