Lifting harness for 2009 130 Super Sport

Postby mvahabana » Mon Sep 14, 2020 5:42 pm

I am in the process of constructing a lifting harness for a 2009 130 Super Sport. I found a design for such a harness in the REFERENCE section for a 2008 130 Sport.

Are there lifting harness measurements for the 130 Super Sport?

Looking at the available drawings, it seems that the 2008 model has the transom lifting brackets somewhat farther apart than my model. Can anyone confirm that, or ideally provide the distance between the transom lifting brackets on the 130 Sport?

Any other advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

What is the URL for the drawing in the REFERENCE section for a 2008 130 SPORT lifting harness?

There are lifting harness drawings discussed in a prior thread at

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2934

Is the drawing you refer to one of them?

When mentioning a resource, it would be most appreciated if you give the URL so readers will know what resource you are discussing.

The drawing for a lifting harness for the 130 Sport (2008) is here:

When I said that "it seems that the 2008 model has the transom lifting brackets somewhat farther apart," I was referring to the model drawings that are available on bostonwhaler.com.

The drawing you refer to has no information about making a lifting harness.

It is not a drawing of a 130 SPORT in any model year.

It is a sketch of a classic SPORT 13 that shows some dimensions of the interior.

I pointed to an article that is the link to those drawings in my first reply. The article explains the source of the drawings and what boats they are associated with. Those drawings are not associated specifically with a 2008 130 SPORT and the lifting harness design they show is not specific to a 2008 130 SPORT. The lifting harness designs described in the article and the drawings showing those designs that are linked in the article are for classic 13-foot and 17-foot hulls.

Again, the article is
13-foot and 17-foot Lifting Harness

I don't see a basis for you to have made the association between those drawings and a specific model year of a 130 SPORT boat. Perhaps you can explain.

Yes, I read the posting you refer to--in fact I read it a couple months back when I printed out the drawing and wrote 2008 130 Sport on it. But now I can't find why I made that notation; as you point out, there is no reference on the drawing or in the posting to a specific model.

So I guess this post boils down to: I'm about to construct said lifting harness, having never done so before. Any comments or recommendations? Any differences between my 130 Super Sport and the classic 13-foot hull that I should take into consideration?

I did mock it up with some string, and the lengths in the drawing seem to be a good guide. I might adjust a couple of inches. And I have a ratcheting strap to use to determine the length of the long leg with the Whaler actually on the crane.

Thanks,
Mark Z.

Your plan to make a three-point lifting harness and to make the bow lifting segment with an adjustable length before deciding on a fixed length sounds like a good plan to me. If you finalize the lifting harness for your 2009 130 SUPER SPORT boat, please share the dimensions with everyone by posting them to this thread. Good luck with the project.

Just don't lift it with string ;)
