Boat Renovation Provider in Bradenton Florida

Postby geoffsimmonds » Tue Jan 05, 2021 10:20 pm

Give a recommendation for a service provider in the Brandenton-Sarasota area that can provide restoration services for a 1985 Revenge 25.

The 1985 Revenge 25 has a solid hull but needs at a minimum:
  • a new outboard and controls
  • possibly new fuel tanks
  • complete rewiring
  • new cushions
  • cuddy cabin interior refurbishing, and
  • restoration of the woodwork.

Thanks--Geoff

Visit your local Boston Whaler dealer and talk to the service manager. He may know of someone he can recommend. During the slower season, if there is one in Bradenton, some boat technicians do private work during their free time. You may not want to choose one person or firm to do all the work you want. Few people are qualified to do all the items on your list.

A corollary to JEFE's comment: few people are qualified to pay for all the work on the list.

Restoration projects are often very labor intensive, so hiring all the labor will be expensive. Many Boston Whaler boat restorations are done with free labor, that is, the work is done by the boat owner, and there is no cost accounting for all of that labor and time.

I would not contact Marine Max in Sarasota, they do not know crap about classics. Engine and controls can be done by anyone you chose who sells outboards. What brand are you looking for? Upholstery can be done by anyone as well depending on what you want. If looking for OEm you would contact Anderson in No Florida. Same goes for cabin. As far as the tanks go, if it aint broke, don't fix it. Lastly the woodwork is something most owners do themselves. I don't know who would do that around here.

If you want more information on local vendors who could do the work, contact Cannon's marina on Longboat Key. They used to be the local BW dealer until Brunswick mandated the Mercury outboard deal and they would not shift from Yamaha.
On my 24th Whaler. Currently in the stable: 86 18' Outrage, 81 13' Sport(original owner), 87 11' Sport, 69 Squall(for sale cheap).
