POLL: Number of Boston Whaler Boats Currently Owned

Postby jimh » Thu Mar 24, 2016 1:04 pm

Please vote in the poll. You can only vote once. Please indicate the number of Boston Whaler boat you currently own. The boats can be in any state of seaworthiness, that is, ready for sea to not at all ready for sea.

Re voting so far and general lack of votes for owning three Boston Whaler boats:

At one time I owned three Boston Whaler boats, but I found that three Boston Whaler boats was a very unstable number. My ownership soon broke up and landed on owning one Boston Whaler boat. I believe that the problem with a three-boat ownership is something like the famous astro-physics orbital prediction problem called The Three Body Problem.

The Three Body Problem was an investigation into how to predict the behavior of three bodies in orbit around each other, initially applied to the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon. I believe that Newton was able to demonstrate a method for predicting the orbits of two bodies in motion with respect to each other, but could not find a solution for a system involving three bodies. This appears to carry over to ownership of Boston Whaler boats. Ownership of one boat is very stable and predictable. Ownership of two boats is also similarly stable and predictable. When one acquires a third boat, the system becomes unstable. As the poll seems to show, ownership of three boats is less frequently found than ownership of four boats. I believe this can only be explained in the classic mechanics of Newton and The Three Body Problem.

The poll remains open. If you have not voted yet, please do.

The ownership of zero Boston Whaler boats represents a state of entropy for Boston Whaler boats. In classical theory, we are always slowing heading toward entropy. We can see that among participants in the voting, some have already reached entropy. However, infusion of new energy into a system can cause chaos and reduce entropy.

Sounds like your theories of having 0 or 3 boats in the stable applies to women as well.

I made the POLL a sticky topic to keep in view. Please VOTE in the poll.

Please note that appending a reply to list your boat model is not necessary. This poll is only concerned with the total number of Boston Whaler boats you own. I do find it interesting to see what people who own three or more boats have. We'll do another poll later to find out what boat models are most popular, but I think I already know the outcome.

If you have not voted, please do. The poll will run until June 22--when Summer begins and we should all go boating instead of web browsing.

I have four Boston Whalers. Three classic 15's: a GLS II, a center console, and a red Mischief; plus a 21ft banana hull 1978 Revenge.

I have had a total of eight; still have the last four at least for a little while longer.

This thread is not trying to collect any details about what boats are owned, just the number of boats owned.

When people post information about their boats, I really don't know if they have voted in the poll. Voting in the poll is the primary purpose of the the thread. Later polls will explore what models of Boston Whaler boats are owned.
