c.2013 230 Dauntless

Postby boatsmith » Fri Apr 01, 2016 1:16 pm

I [may buy] a 2013 230 DAUNTLESS with a Verado 250 and T-top. I want an all-round boat for fishing, cruising, and water sports, to run mostly in the bay, but once in a while in the ocean. [Seeks advice from owners of this year and model Boston Whaler boat and offers] thanks in advance [for any information they can offer].

Good platform for bay and near coastal. off shore you will have to pick your days. The boat will handle more than you will. You have to judge the seas that you and your passengers will be comfortable with.

The 210 VENTURA is a smaller dual-console Boston Whaler boat , but is otherwise somewhat akin to a 230 DAUNTLESS. The reports from BLUEWATERPIRATE about his offshore fishing in the Atlantic Ocean with his single-engine Boston Whaler 21-foot hull are quite strong endorsements for the seaworthy nature of his boat.

I recommend reading some remarks by BLUEWATERPIRATE regarding using a 210 VENTURA offshore at

Note that some of the older links in those archived messages have turned into dead links, but many still are working.

I also recommend browsing BLUEWATERPIRATE's photo hosting website at

Here is an example of what you can find there:

Great resource as always Jim.

I have a 1997 17' Dauntless that actually looks very much like a ventura. Its more than a bayboat to me. It handles Jacksonville's St Johns river crazy wakes and jetties. Near shore to 9 miles in a good day. I'll trade mine for 230 DAUNTLESS with a Verado 250 anyday to go further offshore.

I don't quite understand your statement-question. Are you asking the question, is finding information about Boston Whaler boat owners difficult?

Or, is your remark a statement, that finding information about Boston Whaler boat owners is difficult--in other words, not a question? I don't know how to read you last remark. Please explain further.
