I haven't been on the forum for some time but decided to check in as I am thinking about selling my 1985 13" Sport. I've looked through Craigslist and Ebay to get a sense for prices but wanted to get some educated opinions from those on this forum. I don't have much history on the boat before I purchased it about 10 years ago. We use it a handful of times a year for crabbing and running around on the Chesapeake Bay. It was in OK shape when we got it and it's in about the same shape now - but a few more stress cracks and some bruises. The 1985 30HP engine runs decent, although it has it's days. The trailer is in decent shape - I replaced the axle / hubs last year. The wood console is in poor shape - wanted to restore but time doesn't permit. The rub rail at the one corner is damaged (thanks to a piling), steering can bind a hair at the extreme and things of that nature. I guess things I've just used to. Any thoughts on fair market price would be appreciated. We're out in the Washington, DC / Chesapeake Bay area.

FS - 1985 BW 13 Sport
I did end up posting the boat up for sale - ad on craigslist at: https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld ... 34332.html. I have not had the boat out this year or serviced it. But I did start it on the hose and it started and ran OK. Posting at $3,250.

That should be a competitive price in the Bay area. I would have estimated three to four thousand dollars as realistic.

I appreciate the reply. I had it on craigslist in the Washington, DC area for about a month at around $4K with little success. Just dropped to $3250 feeling that it's reasonable. Perhaps it's normal, but there are odds and ends with the boat - slight damage to right stern bumper rail, console wood needs refinishing, steering can be a bit hard when at the extreme, it's likes it's carb cleaned periodically, etc. I guess they are things that I've just lived with or worked on since owning it. When you go to sell you get the feeling all those little things you've just dealt with are now problems. In my mind, it's the nature of a 30 year old boat no restored. And i think the price reflects that. I've seen nicely restored or re-powered 13s for $5K to $7K and basket cases for $1,500. Around $3K seems to be reasonable for the condition. Plus, I think if someone isn't looking specifically for a BW, all the little things seem worse. We'll see how it goes.

It does not have bottom paint which is a plus to many buyers, especially those who boat exclusively in fresh water. When we bought our 13 it had old bottom paint but since we use a slip in salt water it was a slight plus for us.
