SOLD: 1979 Harpoon 4.6 sailboat

Postby David Jenkins » Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:00 pm

For sale is a 1979 Boston Whaler Harpoon 4.6-meter sailboat in excellent condition. This is a wonderful sailing dinghy. If you have a child or grandchild who loves to sail, this would be an excellent boat for them to call their own. Like all Boston Whalers, it is unsinkable. Tie it up at the dock, leave the bailers open, and it can rain all day and the deck will have no water in it when you come back to the dock to take it out again. It is a planing hull, very fast and fun. It takes a lot to capsize it, but if that does happen it is no more difficult to right than a Sunfish or Laser. And with a mainsail and a jib, it is way more fun to sail (and two feet longer) than the Sunfish or Laser. At 15' in length, it is the perfect size for two people. The hull, centerboard, rudder, sails, rigging, and trailer are in great shape. It is located in Durham, North Carolina. It is a great deal at $2,950. I am pleased to hear the HARPOON was sold. The boat offered was a really nice example of a HARPOON, and I was giving some idle thoughts to buying it myself, although at almost 70-years-old, my time to be daysailing a 15-footer off a trailer is probably in the past.
