FS: 1977 New Mercury 50-HP manual start, short shaft

For-sale: a new 1977 Mercury 50-HP, manual start, short shaft, $2,500.

Yes, new in crate. I have had this engine for 25 years. This summer I started it for first time ever. I figured it was better to run it than let it sit longer. The engine was run for about an hour with double oil (25:1) while varying speed. A new impeller was installed just to be safe.

I was going to put this engine on a 1971 SourPuss, but I found a nearly new, freshwater 50 Merc also short shaft, manual start. So I am going to put on [this other engine] instead of [the engine I am selling] since [the other engine] is same year as boat.

This engine has new MerControl and paperwork including MerCard warranty card. I got this engine from an Alaskan fisherman who got a deal on two engines but never needed the second before he retired.

I paid $2,500 will sell to a Whaler person for same.

[The engine is s]till available and is selling for what I paid for it many years ago.

The cost of a new 50-HP these days is $8,000.
