I have a 75 E-TEC rigged on my Montauk. Does the ICON Basic Tachometer 4-inch (BRP #765469) get all of its data from only the NMEA 2000 network? Or, am I missing something?
I don't have a Network adaptor cable; it didn't come with it in my "Basic rigging package"
My trim gauge works, my tachometer has power but no reading.
The only documentation I have is what came with the gauges and the rest of the rigging stuff.
I have read all the online stuff and a lot of the fourms.
I know there are some in here the have repowered , so was wondering what you have done.
Thanks Again.

ICON Basic gauges are either 3.5-inch or 5-inch.
All data is from NMEA-2000.
All data is from NMEA-2000.

Thanks.
I guess I have to go buy a NMEA cable.
Does this one look right?

I thought my gauge was 4" because thats what it says on the label.
Again Thanks

That is only one of the several cables and accessories that you need to install a network in your boat and hook up an ICON basic tachometer to it. You can only use a network if your 75 is a 2008 or later model.
For a lot less money and hassle, you probably already have the MWS engine cable going to your key switch from the motor and you only need to obtain a regular System Check tach and return your ICON basic tach. The SystemCheck tach is the same diameter and displays the same information as the ICON basic and the plug for it is already in your MWS wiring harness.

admirable!!!
Thanks for that info.
Yes my 75 is a 2008 or later model and yes I do have the MWS cable.
Thanks again for that info.

I guess the guy who writes the sales literature and the guy who makes the parts database have different points of view on the size of the gauge. One measures the size of the hole; the other must measure the size of the escutcheon.
I have never seen any reference in any literature from Evinrude that refers to a 4-inch gauge.

For information on building a network see

Since you already have the ICON gauge you might as well use it.
