Pattern for Mills Forward Shelter for 17-footer

Postby Marc-B » Mon Oct 17, 2016 6:50 am

This is long shot request. I have a 1979 Newport 17.Three years ago when I bought it, the previous owner had just thrown out the old Mills top and forward shelter canvas. I have all the bows, and my daughter actually made me a very nice Bimini top from scratch. We found some leftover Sunbrella material and, for $50 invested, the new top looks great. My daughter is quite crafty; she also re-upholstered the seat on my RPS.Making your own material and parts is quite satisfying and economical as well.

I am looking for a tattered ready-for-the-junk Mills bow shelter for a 17 Newport. I would love to get one so we can use it as a pattern to make a new one. I would also settle for detailed pictures, inside and out, [showing] how [the forward shelter] attaches to the [bow] railing.

Thanks
Marc
