Evinrude FICHT and E-TEC

Postby Georgiaguy » Thu Dec 08, 2016 9:43 am

I have a service manual for a 150 [FiCHT]. Is the 150 [E-TEC] motor basically the same?
Do I need get a [E-TEC] manual?

What are the differences between [FICHT] and [E-TEC] engines?

Thanks

The Evinrude E-TEC and FICHT engines are similar in their basics of operation.

I don't know if you need an E-TEC service manual. Are you planning to perform service on an E-TEC engine? If so, you will benefit from having the proper literature.

I don't own a FICHT engine, and I don't have a service manual for one. I do have an E-TEC and a service manual for it. However, I cannot describe for you all the differences. I recommend you undertake that project yourself. I suspect there will be many differences. The evolution of the Evinrude engine to E-TEC from FICHT was not just a change in names.
