Comparison Shop - Do your research!

I have a list (as long as my arm) of parts, equipment, tools and supplies to get for my new to me 1992 Outrage 17.

This boat restoration will be very different in that I am no longer in Maine and am now way too far from all my favorite suppliers. Shipping all the things I would buy from Hamilton Marine alone would kill my wallet and the backs of my friends from USPS, UPS and FedEx.

While it's early, one of the larger items to purchase is a replacement 72qt Igloo Marine (or Elite) cooler for the bow. In going online, prices for the exact same item are all over the map ranging from $98 to a high $187). Shipping ranges from free to $28.

In two cases, the price of the larger 94qt cooler that fits the classic Montauk 17 and Outrage 18 is only $80.00. Unfortunately that will not fit in the bow of the Outrage 17. (Academy and Walmart have the best prices in case you are in the market)

My point in this is, for many items, take the time to research online and at local suppliers.

One of the biggest "sayings" that are full of $hit is........"you get what you pay for"......
