Leaning Post Cushion Parchment Vinyl

Postby John_Madison CT » Sun Nov 22, 2015 5:34 pm

Would you guys know who might be able to make the cushion for the Whaler leaning post, but in the classic style parchment vinyl?

John -

Call Tena at Anderson's and ask. 321-267-7028 They have the OEM patterned material, just like Lois at Hall's did.

For your fabric try:
Art's Auto & Marine Inc
736 Warren Ave
Brockton, MA 02301
Phone: 508-586-2137

Art's was an OEM when Whalers were manufactured in Rockland, MA

I tried calling again and got a hold of Tena at Anderson Mfg. She's a nice lady.

I ordered the leaning post cushion. Not cheap, $321, but its with the proper upholstery and tan parchment. They're expecting late January delivery. So, they're very very busy.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Here's an update. Got the cushion from Anderson Manuf.. Nice work. Expensive, but decent.

I filled all the holes and gouges with filler bondo, sanded everything down, refilled, re-bondo any dips, resand everything.

I used a low cost single part Topside paint by Rustoleum. $14/quart from Home Depot. It worked OK. Did about 4 coats, with sanding in between. It's not gel coat smooth, but looks good from 3' away. I did notice that it's kind of soft, which means it will mark up easily, but to refinish in a couple years is easy.

The leaning post was originally a mess. The previous owner put on a huge single cushion, which looked god aweful. It covered the rod holder area too.

So off it came, and what was underneath was terrible.

Looks nice!
I think you will find the Rustoleum Topsides will harden a bit more over time...mine did. It took about 30 days or so. I refinished the console on my 17' Montauk and it turned out fine.
