Outrage 18 Radar Arch

Postby oahukiter84 » Tue Mar 28, 2017 10:14 pm

Aloha all,

First time poster here. I'm hoping for some advice on adding a radar-fishing arch to my 1982 Outrage 18. I know it's been done before on Gambler, but I was unable to find any particulars on the install. I found out he hard way with gunwale mount outriggers that too much stress on the teak isn't a good thing. Does anyone know how buckda went about installing?

I'm looking at arches from either Atlantic or fish-on. Looking to enhance the fishability of my boat and I think this setup would be perfect here in Hawaii. Thanks for the help!

Jason

I believe that the radar arch Dave installed on GAMBLER was an Atlantic Tower off-the-shelf model.

Ray Martin of Martin Marine Design comes highly recommended by Whaler owners for their whaler fitted swim platforms and custom fabrication work.

IMO, that Radar arch is a terrible design. You've so destroyed the fishing room in the cockpit. Why not just put up Tee Top?

It's different fishing out here. Talking exclusively trolling for big fish that you fight off the stern. Most custom tops I've seen in Hawaii are actually made with supports down to gunwales.... Helps with additional support for carrying canoes on top, etc.
